Aaron Mate Interviews Prof. Stephen F. Cohen on Adam Schiff’s Dangerous Mischaracterization of Russia

Last week, the Grayzone’s Aaron Mate interviewed Professor Stephen F. Cohen regarding Representative Adam Schiff’s dangerous mischaracterizations of Russia and the civil war in Ukraine during his remarks at the impeachment trial of Donald Trump.

Some more background on Schiff’s motivations for vilifying Russia and boosting the new cold war narrative is provided in this article by Liza Featherstone, which discusses how generous the military-industrial-complex has been to Schiff’s campaign.

  1. Shiff’s speech is appalling propaganda, rivaling the lies and misinformation that is broadcast on the conservative talk radio stations.

  2. I expected it to be bad, but it was even worse than I expected. It’s like some really bad B movie writing. According to these people, Putin/Russia is like the creature from the Black Lagoon.

I’m really surprised that this kind of over-the-top vilification and scare-mongering on behalf of conflict doesn’t trigger more peoples’ b.s. meter. I guess for many establishment Dem supporters, that meter – if they ever really had it – broke in 2016.

  3. McCarthyism, reds under the bed. The older Dems will love it when in fact they should be appalled. It’s all for internal consumption but these people forget the reach of the internet, it’s just another indicator of how insane and unstable the US establishment and the MIC have become and was there ever a more visually apt representative than Schiff, all bug eyed barely intelligible lies. What a freakshow Washington has become
