In spite of Scott’s command of the facts even he must cave and qualify his support for the Russians by saying that the invasion was illegal. Well, one has to ask is self-defense illegal, because that’s what we are talking about here? Is anyone required to just watch its position just be chipped away until there is nothing left? Definitely not! There is a time to be chosen by the Russians in this case to end the assault without it being called illegal. Besides, the term hardly has any meaning these days (viz.Israel) due to the fact that the only “enforcement” out there is the “US rules-based order”, a total farce.
There is another incriminating (of the US) point here. Outright refusal to talk to Lavrov on Blinken’s part is, frankly, juvenile and totally out of order. A responsible, not to mention mature (realistic), reaction in such a situation is to talk, given it’s seriousness. Who is Blinken or Biden to play with our (everyones’ lives) like that? In so doing he is simply admitting that he is (they are) not up to the job (neither of them: Blinken for ostensibly deferring to his boss, and Biden for allowing him to do this) nor have the constitutional fortitude (courage) to confront the situation. Let’s remember how a real statesman, JFK, handled an analogous situation.
