I recommend this interview Natylie Baldwin if you did not see it yet.
Not impressed with Ioffe as a journalist or Russia analyst and not very impressed with her in this interview either. She presents certain things that Putin believes about or that the US/west has done as in doubt when in reality they’re not in dispute – e.g. Putin believes that the west promised Gorbachev that NATO wouldn’t move eastward when documents published by National Security Archive prove that this promise was, in fact, made. Another example is that the US uses human rights and democracy cynically as a PR cover for what it wants to do for other reasons – the US’s actions in fact prove this out. Putin doesn’t believe in “win-win” situations, blah blah. 12 minutes in and this interview is getting tiresome already.
