One point Davis makes in his analysis is to speculate on why Trump is saying things that don’t make any sense. He wonders if it might be the product of a cognitive problem with Trump. Personally, I don’t think it’s necessarily a product of a cognitive problem, I think it’s a product of Trump’s compulsive bullshitting, especially to cover up his incompetence. – Natylie
Well put Natylie. Finally someone looking at it not from the “clinical” but simple political-realist POV. It’s the same tactics the West has been using over the entire failure of conducting this war: Rather say dumb or invented things than admit the truth. It will stick eventually or divert from the more sinister revelations.

I’d agree that some of this is ” a product of Trump’s compulsive bullshitting…” but I think we are seeing some distinct cognitive decline. Listen to Trump 20 years ago, then maybe back during his first presidency and now. There is a very worry decline in verbal skills and coherence.
Back during the Biden–Trump campaign I was seeing what looked like cognitive decline in both candidates. What surprised me was that I expected to see more and faster decline in Trump than Biden but it was the other way around.
