  1. Been visiting and revisiting this blog since a month or two before the war, began. My oh my I think will it never end? Russia Ukraine who would have imagine the endless loss of life and World War One dragging on type of battles and slaughter – I mean the duration , the deaths, the wounded, one can only imagine and I write this as aspectator_I can’t imagine the real horrors of the war.We have two young refugees in our street .I know them, they shrug their shoulders about this war. Parents chose to stay in Kiev.. my impression from them is yes war is inconvenient but not shocking not even inhuman. Even leaving Ukraine in seems
an adventure for them they are young have a child of 3? better here than than there they seem to say. We speak frequently maybe it’s Slavic stoicism. But no one, Slavic , Canadian, or American wants this war to continue. Tell us tell them your thoughts Natalie you’ve been to Russia … any hopes?

    1. I haven’t been able to go back to Russia since my last trip in 2017. That being said, I think that Russians do not want this war but feel, for the most part, that it was thrust on them by the machinations of the west (Maidan coup, sabotage of Minsk accords, arming Ukrainian military to the point of close to de facto NATO, etc.). They are winning the war and most would probably be fine with wrapping it up as long as the Donbas and Crimea are safely under the Russian umbrella and Ukraine is a neutral country. Russians consider Ukrainians to be a fraternal people.
